Overview

TeamRoomie is a complete organizer for a shared flat (a WG / Wohngemeinschaft) — shared calendar, chores rota, shopping & to-do lists, a shared-expenses Kasse, repairs, borrowing, the fridge, rooms, house rules and a private Lead area — built on a local-first principle: all of your flatshare’s data stays on the roomies’ own devices. There are no central servers and no cloud account. This policy explains what data the app handles, how it stays on your devices, and your rights.

In one line: nothing about your WG leaves your phones. There is no server to send it to.

Data We Store (only on your devices)

TeamRoomie stores the following only on your device, in encrypted local storage (AES-256). This data is never sent to us, because we operate no servers:

• Roomie profiles (names, roles, colors)
• Calendar events, appointments and house meetings
• To-dos, the rotating cleaning board (Putzplan), shopping & custom lists
• The shared-money WG-Kasse: expenses and settle-ups, payment details, payment records/receipts, repairs (incl. on-device repair photos) and recurring shared bills
• Borrowing (who lent/borrowed what), the fridge planner, and room assignments
• House rules (Hausordnung) and votes
• In the Lead Zone (separately encrypted, unlocked by biometrics/PIN, and never synced to a roomie’s device): the lease record (Mietvertrag), the full key register, the rent records, private notes, and the document/password vault
• A short rent summary (rent, deposit, tenancy dates, keys held) that the Lead’s device publishes into the shared data so each roomie’s “My Room” works offline. Be aware: like all shared data this is copied to every roomie’s phone in the WG — encrypted at rest and never leaving your phones, but the app scopes it to its owner in the interface rather than by encryption. Encrypting each summary so only its owner’s device can read it is planned.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email, or any personal information on any server
• We do not create user accounts — there is nothing to sign up for
• We do not track your location
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or fingerprinting SDKs
• We do not share, sell, or transmit any data to third parties

How Synchronization Works (no cloud)

When more than one roomie uses the app, TeamRoomie synchronizes data directly between your own devices:

• At home: over your local Wi-Fi network, device-to-device. The data never reaches the internet.
• On the go: only when you choose to export an AES-256-encrypted file and share it through your own channel (email, messenger). Nothing is exported automatically and nothing passes through our infrastructure.

The Lead Zone (lease, key register, private notes, vault) is never included in any sync — it stays on the Lead Roomie’s device only. We never see, store, or relay any of this data.

Pricing

TeamRoomie is free — every feature is available to everyone at no cost. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no advertising. Because we run no servers and collect no data, there is nothing to monetise: the app is free to use, period.

Children’s Privacy

TeamRoomie is intended for adults sharing a home. It contains no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no social features, and it does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. All data remains local to the roomies’ devices.

Data Security & Deletion

All data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and the encryption keys are held in your device’s secure hardware keychain (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). The Lead Zone is encrypted in a separate store unlocked only by biometrics or PIN. Because everything is local, you can delete all data at any time by uninstalling the app. There is no account to delete and no data on our servers.

A note on the Kasse and contract features

The WG-Kasse, payment receipts and the lease (Mietvertrag) features are internal book-keeping conveniences only — they have no legal or accounting standing and are not a substitute for formal records or professional advice.

We may update this policy when new features are added. Changes are reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
